FORA Projects

The Friends of Roman Aldborough are presently supporting two significant projects.

Roman Town Project

This project, to rediscover Isurium Brigantum from beneath Aldborough’s fields and gardens, is spearheaded by Cambridge University archaeologists Prof. Martin Millett and Dr Rose Ferraby. Each year they conduct a survey or an excavation, engaging students, local volunteers, other researchers. and the public.

Roman Garden Project

Alongside the Roman Town Project, FORA’s Garden Group is creating a garden within the Roman town walls, using flowers, trees, vegetables and herbs introduced by the Romans. The Garden Group volunteers are transforming the landscape with their plantings and the garden has become a must-see part of the site tour.
